These terms and conditions govern your use of LiiT Care Connect and the services we provide. Please read them carefully before using our platform.

1. Introduction

Welcome to LiiT Care Connect, a comprehensive childcare services platform that connects families with qualified caregivers, babysitters, and dayhome providers across Canada. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

LiiT Care Connect operates as a marketplace platform that facilitates connections between childcare service providers and families seeking care. We do not directly provide childcare services but enable these connections through our technology platform.

2. Definitions
"Platform" refers to the LiiT Care Connect website, mobile applications, and all related services.
"Service Provider" refers to caregivers, babysitters, nannies, and dayhome operators offering childcare services.
"User" or "Parent" refers to parents, guardians, and families seeking childcare services.
"Dayhome" refers to licensed or approved family childcare businesses operating from residential properties.
"Booking" refers to any childcare service arrangement made through our platform.
"Services" refers to all childcare services offered through the platform including babysitting, nanny services, and dayhome care.
"We," "Us," "Our" refers to LiiT Care Connect and its operators.
"Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions and any additional policies referenced herein.
3. Eligibility and Registration

General Eligibility

  • Teen users below the age of 18 years of age must have parental or guardian consent to use our platform
  • You must be legally authorized to work in Canada (for service providers)
  • You must provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials

Service Provider Additional Requirements

  • Must pass background verification checks
  • Must provide valid government-issued identification
  • Must maintain current certifications (First Aid, CPR) where applicable
  • Dayhome providers must comply with provincial licensing requirements
4. Service Provider Verification

Verification Process Includes:

  • Identity verification through government-issued photo ID
  • Background checks including criminal record verification
  • Reference checks from previous employers or clients
  • Verification of certifications and qualifications
  • For dayhomes: licensing status verification where applicable

Limitations:

  • Verification provides a snapshot at the time of checking
  • We cannot guarantee ongoing conduct or behavior
  • Users are responsible for their own due diligence
  • Verification does not constitute an endorsement
5. Dayhome Services

Dayhome Provider Requirements:

  • Must comply with all provincial and municipal licensing requirements
  • Must maintain current insurance coverage as required by law
  • Must provide accurate information about their facility, capacity, and services
  • Must maintain safe and appropriate childcare environments
  • Must disclose any changes to licensing status immediately

Parent Responsibilities for Dayhome Services:

  • Verify licensing status independently before committing to services
  • Provide complete and accurate information about child's needs
  • Respect dayhome policies regarding hours, meals, and activities
  • Maintain open communication with dayhome providers
6. Booking and Cancellation

Booking Process:

  • All bookings are subject to service provider availability and acceptance
  • Users must provide accurate information for all bookings
  • Booking confirmation is required from both parties
  • Special requirements must be communicated during booking

Cancellation Policy:

  • 24-hour grace period: Full refund for cancellations within 24 hours of booking
  • 7+ days notice: 20% cancellation fee applies
  • Less than 7 days: No refund available
  • Emergency cancellations: Reviewed case-by-case

Service Provider Cancellations:

  • Must provide reasonable notice when possible
  • Cancellations within 12 hours may result in penalties
  • Emergency cancellations are exempt from penalties
  • Repeated last-minute cancellations may result in account suspension
7. Payments and Fees

Pricing Structure:

  • Service providers set their own rates for services
  • All prices are displayed in Canadian Dollars (CAD)
  • Additional fees and taxes will be clearly displayed before payment
  • Prices may vary based on service type, duration, and special requirements

Platform Fees:

  • Service Provider Fee: 5% processing fee
  • Parent/User Fee: 9% processing fee
  • Payment Processing: Standard payment processing fees apply
  • GST/HST: Applicable taxes added as required by law

Payment Process:

  • Payment is required at the time of booking
  • Funds are held in escrow until service completion
  • Service providers receive payment within 3-5 business days after service completion
  • Refunds are processed according to our cancellation policy
8. User Responsibilities

Parent/User Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate information about children and care requirements
  • Ensure a safe environment for service delivery
  • Be available for emergency contact during service provision
  • Treat service providers with respect and professionalism
  • Pay for services as agreed upon
  • Provide feedback and reviews honestly and constructively

Service Provider Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate availability information
  • Provide services as described in your profile
  • Maintain required qualifications and certifications
  • Follow safety protocols and best practices
  • Communicate professionally with clients
  • Honor confirmed bookings unless emergency circumstances arise
9. Safety Standards and Child Protection

Mandatory Safety Requirements:

  • All service providers must undergo background checks
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required for most services
  • Immediate reporting of any safety incidents or concerns
  • Compliance with provincial child protection legislation
  • Zero tolerance for any form of abuse or inappropriate conduct

Reporting Procedures:

  • Report safety concerns immediately to LiiT Care Connect
  • Contact local authorities for emergencies or serious incidents
  • We will investigate all reported safety concerns promptly
  • Confidentiality will be maintained throughout investigation processes
10. Liability and Insurance

Platform Limitations:

  • We provide the platform "as-is" without warranties
  • We do not guarantee service provider availability or quality
  • We are not liable for incidents during service provision
  • Maximum liability limited to fees paid through the platform

Insurance Requirements:

  • Service providers must maintain appropriate insurance coverage
  • Dayhome providers must comply with provincial insurance requirements
  • Users are encouraged to verify insurance coverage before services
  • Some services may be covered under homeowner's or renter's insurance
11. Dispute Resolution

Resolution Process:

  1. Contact the other party directly to attempt resolution
  2. If unsuccessful, contact LiiT Care Connect customer support
  3. We will mediate disputes and provide recommendations
  4. Serious disputes may require formal arbitration

Refund Considerations:

  • Refunds evaluated based on our cancellation policy
  • Service quality disputes reviewed case-by-case
  • Documentation and evidence required for dispute claims
  • Final decisions rest with LiiT Care Connect management
12. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Key Privacy Commitments:

  • We collect only necessary information for service provision
  • Personal information is protected with industry-standard security
  • Information is shared only as necessary for service delivery
  • Users can request access to and correction of their personal information
  • We comply with applicable privacy legislation (PIPEDA, provincial privacy laws)
13. Platform Usage Rules

Prohibited Activities:

  • Circumventing the platform for direct payment arrangements
  • Creating fake profiles or providing false information
  • Harassing, threatening, or inappropriate communication
  • Attempting to access unauthorized areas of the platform
  • Using the platform for illegal activities
  • Sharing contact information before booking confirmation

Content Guidelines:

  • Profile information must be accurate and up-to-date
  • Photos must be appropriate and represent services accurately
  • Reviews must be honest and based on actual experiences
  • Communications must be professional and respectful
14. Intellectual Property

Platform Rights:

  • LiiT Care Connect owns all platform technology and intellectual property
  • Users are granted limited license to use the platform for its intended purpose
  • Platform content may not be copied, modified, or distributed without permission
  • Trademarks and logos are protected intellectual property

User Content:

  • Users retain ownership of content they upload
  • Users grant LiiT Care Connect license to use content for platform operations
  • Users must have rights to any content they upload
  • Content must not infringe on third-party intellectual property rights
15. Account Termination

Termination by Users:

  • Users may close their accounts at any time
  • Outstanding bookings must be completed or properly cancelled
  • Some information may be retained for legal and business purposes
  • Reactivation may be possible with customer support assistance

Termination by LiiT Care Connect:

  • We may suspend or terminate accounts for Terms violations
  • Safety concerns may result in immediate account suspension
  • Users will be notified of termination reasons when possible
  • Appeals process available for disputed terminations
16. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.

  • Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
  • Provincial childcare licensing regulations
  • Consumer protection legislation
  • Employment standards (where applicable)
17. Modifications to Terms

LiiT Care Connect reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. We will provide notice of material changes through the platform or by email.

Change Process:

  • Users will be notified of changes at least 30 days in advance
  • Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of new terms
  • Users may close their accounts if they disagree with changes
  • Updated terms become effective on the specified date
